Love is in the air on Valentines Day in Hua Hin
A beach at moonlight, a sparkling diamond and a couple in love, all the ingredients needed for a marriage proposal, which is just what happened in Hua Hin this week at the GSB Thailand Open presented by E@.
The recipe for love presented the perfect opportunity for Nikola Stevanovic who proposed to his girlfriend, main draw player Natalija Kostic following her first round singles defeat to No.4 seed Saisai Zheng.
The couple relaxed on Valentines Day after the Huahin tournament organisers gave the couple a two-night stay at the beach-side luxury Intercontinental Resort Hua Hin to celebrate their engagement.
The couple explained that the proposal was unexpected for both of them and Nikola had some help from another WTA player:
Natalija said: “It was a very big surprise, even after nine years together! I was shocked honestly but he really had the help of some friends here and the tournament and it was perfect. He had the help of a young and freshly-married couple Barbara Flink and her husband so they’ve been talking and they were the ones who really helped him to make that step!”
Nikola added: “Well actually I hadn’t been planning but everything happened here in the tournament so it was a surprise for me as well!”
On the date for the wedding the couple will take their time but could have found the perfect setting, Natalija said:
“It will take time but we think it will probably be next year, we’d like to have it near the beach so you never know, this is a good place….!”
So watch this space, the 2021 Thailand Open could also feature a wedding!
